| Take your digital images of the scene or object to be measured. Make sure to record at least three overlapping images from different camera angles and to measure at least one distance presented in three or more of the images captured (for accident reconstruction, a distance measurement obtained using a steel or fiberglass tape will suffice). Import the images into iWitness from your digital camera. iWitness has a built-in database of most common digital cameras and in most cases will recognize the camera with no additional setup. In this tour's real-world example, all of the images were taken within 20 minutes at the scene, and the iWitness photogrammetry work was done back in the office. In some situations, it will help to include special targets in your scene, such as the DCS markers seen above, in addition to the natural feature points. These special targets will aid you in marking your scene once you import the images into iWitness. next > |
